Gamocheta carloramirezii sp. nov. (Gnaphalieae, Asteraceae), a new addition to the Chilean Flora

Gamochaeta Asteraceae Chilean Flora Eudicots

Abstract

A new species, Gamochaeta carloramirezii Chaura & C.M. Baeza (Asteraceae), is described from Chile. This taxon is endemic to the coastal range of southern Chile in the Valdivian Temperate-Rainforest ecoregion. This species grows on coastal cliffs of metamorphic and sedimentary rock, which have little soil formation and are subjected to constant saline wind. This new species differs from close relatives by rosette leaves and stoloniferous stems of mature plants.
