Abstract

A new species of Solenostoma (subg. Plectocolea) vidyasagariensis sp. nov. is described from West Bengal, India. The taxon somewhat resembles S. truncatum but differs in having the following combination of characteristics: ovate leaves, base shortly decurrent dorsally, mouth not beaked, crenulate and lamellate-reticuloid spore ornamentation.
