Abstract
Working on the Ecuadorian Senecio species, I focused my attention on Senecio hamamelidifolius Kunth in Humboldt et al. (1818: 140), a poorly known species that Nordenstam (1999) pointed out to be doubtfully described from Ecuador as indicated with a question mark in the protologue. Further research on this matter led me to realize that the same species had been treated in Colombia under different names, i.e., Senecio bugalagrandis Cuatrecasas (1950: 20) and Telanthophora guerkei (Hieronymus 1901: 646) Jeffrey (1992: 54). Herein, I discuss the taxonomic position and nomenclature of this taxon. A clarification of its distribution area is also provided.
