Abstract
A new species, Cymbidium zangnanense (Orchidaceae; Cymbidieae), is described from Motuo County, Xizang, China. In morphology, this species resembles C. maguanense, but it differs by having a broader leaf with inconspicuous bilobed apex, white perianth, long leaf sheath that envelops the inflorescence and peduncle bearing 5–9 exceptionally large flowers sheathed by multiple bracts. Phylogenetic analyses based on two plastid DNA makers (rbcL and matK) and nuclear ribosomal ITS (nrITS) place C. zangnanense as sister to a clade comprising C. banaense, C. eburneum and C. maguanense.
