Abstract
The genus Termitaria is characterized by the formation of sporodochial lesions on the exoskeleton of termites. Specimens of Oriensubulitermes inanis (Termitidae: Nasutitermitinae) were collected in Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park, Vietnam. All individuals were obtained from the same rotten branch lying on forest litter; 40 of the 61 individuals collected (66%) bore sporodochia. A single individual of Globitermes sulphureus (Termitidae: Amitermitinae), bearing a sporodochial lesion, was collected in Cat Tien National Park. Based on morphological characters, all lesions belong to the same species of Termitaria distinct from all previously described species. Thus, the new species, Termitaria hysterioides, is described. This species is characterized by small, typically hysterioid sporodochia, short phialides, a conidiogenous locus positioned at approximately one-third of the phialide length from its base, and small conidia arranged in chains of 11–13 per collarette. This is the first record of the genus Termitaria from Southeast Asia. This is also the first report of Oriensubulitermes inanis and Globitermes sulphureus as hosts of Termitaria.
