Abstract
A new species of Passiflora (Passifloraceae) endemic to the east-facing slopes of the southern Andes from Ecuador is described and illustrated. The new species shares similarity to P. resticulata, P. jaenensis and P. subulata (the latter two native to Peru) but can easily be distinguished by both vegetative and reproductive morphology. A full comparative analysis between the abovementioned species, a conservation assessment, and information on geographic distribution are provided. The new species is assigned to subgenus Passiflora section Granadillastrum.
