Abstract
The genus Microlicia in the Rio de Contas region of Bahia, Brazil, is revisited. A checklist of the 46 recognized species of Microlicia is provided, along with an identification key. Five species are described as new: Microlicia confusa, M. crispula, M. echinata, M. itobirana, and M. ramosiana. We also recognize two new synonyms, M. amblysepala under M. subsetosa and M. minima var. aristifera under M. minima; designate lectotypes for Rhexia cordata, Microlicia amblysepala, M. minima, and M. minima var. aristifera; and provide a complete morphological description for Microlicia luetzelburgii.
