Abstract
Pseudocamelina avromanica (Brassicaceae, tribe Thlaspideae) is described and illustrated as a new species from western Iran (Kurdistan Province). The species occurs on calcareous rocks at a few localities in an alpine region. Morphological comparisons suggest a close relationship with P. kleinii and P. aphragmodes. Pseudocamelina avromanica is distinguished from P. kleinii by its stem indumentum; shape and size of basal leaves; non-flexuous racemes; number of flowers per raceme; length of fruiting pedicels; colour and size of sepals and petals; filament length; and shape and size of the fruits. It differs from P. aphragmodes in its taller stems; puberulent rachis; shape and size of basal leaves; non-flexuous racemes; number of flowers per raceme; colour and size of petals; length of fruiting pedicels; shape and colour of the fruits; perforate septum; and shape and size of the seeds. Both morphological evidence and ITS-based phylogenetic analyses support the recognition of P. avromanica as a distinct species. Detailed taxonomic descriptions, diagnostic characters, photographs, data on distribution, habitat, phenology, ecology, etymology, conservation status, and phylogenetic relationships of the new species and its closest relatives are provided.
