Abstract

On the basis of cultivated plant material and herbarium specimens from three expeditions, the Taraxacum flora of Crimea and other parts of southern Ukraine is presented; the Taraxacum data from other parts of Ukraine is also included. Older Taraxacum records are revised and the new material is analysed in detail. Ninety-three species in twelve sections are recognized in the Ukrainian material, and 44 of them are described as new. A natural hybrid between T. linearisquameum and T. serotinum is described from Serbia and Hungary. Taraxacum sect. Borysthenica is revised as a whole, i.e. including members outside Ukraine (three new species described), and is compared with T. mexicanum, the type T. sect. Mexicana. For the sake of comparison, detailed treatments of several taxa close to those from Ukraine are included.
