Abstract

Schismatoglottis warburgiana Engl. is a poorly known Philippine endemic species originally described in 1898 from limited material and subsequently overlooked for more than a century. Recent fieldwork in southern Mindanao led to its rediscovery and enabled a reassessment of its taxonomic identity through comparison of newly collected material with type and historical specimens. Here, we provide an amended morphological description, second-step lectotypification, updated its known distribution, assessed its conservation status, and confirm its placement within Schismatoglottis sensu stricto. This study highlights the continuing importance of integrative taxonomic revision, herbarium research, and field exploration in resolving long-standing systematic uncertainties in Philippine Araceae.
