Abstract
This study reports Gastrodia diaoluoshanensis, a new orchid species from Hainan Island, China. Through molecular evidence, morphological comparison, descriptive verification, and anatomical analysis, it has been confirmed to differ from the previously known Gastrodia species. It is characterized by a perianth tube ranging from dark brown to black, densely covered with warts, and flowers emitting a foul odor. Morphologically, it resembles Gastrodia nipponica. The morphological features and growth environment of this species are described, accompanied by color illustrations. The discovery of this new species enriches the wild orchid resources of Hainan Island and provides a basis for the study of regional floristic composition, biodiversity research, and species conservation in the area.
