A new species of Campanella (Agaricales, Campanellaceae) from Xizang, China

Abstract

Based on morphological and phylogenetic analyses, a new species, Campanella gyirongensis, was discovered and described from the Xizang Autonomous Region, China. From a morphological standpoint, it is characterized by a relatively large pileus (5-35 mm), comparatively small basidiospores (6.5–8.6 × 4.3–5.9 μm), curved-clavate hymenial cystidia, and occurrence in the specific geographic region of Gyirong Valley, Xizang Autonomous Region. Although phylogenetic analysis of ITS and nrLSU sequences placed this species within the genus Campanella, it formed a distinct and strongly supported clade (PP=1, BS=99). This study provided comprehensive morphological descriptions and phylogenetic placement of C. gyirongensis.
