Abstract

A new fern species, Leptochilus brevipes, is described and illustrated from southeastern Yunnan, China. Morphologically, L. brevipes is most similar to L. decurrens, but differs from the latter in having short petioles and lanceolate and narrower laminae, being the widest at the middle. A phylogenetic analysis based on six plastid markers confirmed the recognition of the new species and resolved it in the Yunnan subclade of the Colysis clade.
