Abstract
Primula longistamina, a new species from Hunli, Upper Dibang Valley District of Arunachal Pradesh, is herein described and illustrated. It is closely resembling with Primula lacerata in its leaf shape, scape length, inflorescence type, and floral condition and colour but, it is easily distinguished by several diagnostic characters like its stoloniferous habit, longer petiole, exannulate flowers, entire corolla lobes, longer pedicels, tomentose inner corolla surface, elongated filaments and styles, and an oblate ovary. A comparative table highlighting the differences between the new species and its allied taxa along with identification key of the Indian species of the section Chartacea is provided. Also, photographic plates and detailed illustrations are provided to aid in accurate identification of the new species.
