Abstract
The genus Indigofera Linnaeus (1753: 751), belonging to tribe Indigofereae in subfamily Papilionoideae, is the third largest genus in the family Fabaceae and comprises approximately 750 species distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical regions of the world (Schrire et al. 2009; LPWG 2017; Mabberley 2017; Zhou et al. 2023; Du Preez et al. 2025). In China, it is represented by 79 species of which 45 species are endemic and two are intrduced (Gao & Schrire 2010).
