Abstract

Pittosporum napoense, a new species of Pittosporaceae is described and illustrated from limestone areas of Guangxi, China. Morphologically, it is most similar to P. kerrii in paniculate inflorescences with many corymbs, inflorescence axis with ferruginous pubescence, and oblate capsule dehiscing by 2 valves, but it can be easily distinguished from the latter by the indumentum of leaf blade and calyx, the colour of petals, the quantity of ovules and the length of filament. Photographs of this new species, as well as a table to distinguish it from P. kerrii, are provided. The threatened status of the new species is also assessed.
