Abstract
The diatom genus Longinata Hajós was first described from an Upper Cretaceous DSDP core. Its description was rudimentary with just a single light micrograph of the holotype. In this contribution we re-describe the species Longinata acuta using light and electron microscopy from specimens found in the same core, clarify what the type specimens are and the slide they come from, transfer Eunotogramma fueloepi Hajós to Longinata and provide a few comments on its relationships.
