Abstract

A new black mildew fungus, Asterina gordoniae infecting leaves of Gordonia obtusa (Theaceae) collected from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is described and illustrated based on morphology. It differs from the four other Asterina species described on Theaceae by having smaller ascospores and sub-lobate to lobate appressoria.
