Abstract

Previously, few studies have focusad on the Pucciniales on Convolvulaceae. In our examination of various materials from studies investigating Pucciniales from Neotropics and Brazil, some forms seem worthy of description as new species. Most reports of Puccinia on Ipomoea are from neotropic regions, but some occur in Africa, Asia, China, India, Oceania and United States of America. Four of the thirteen Puccinia species on Ipomoea are proposed to be new species: P. cuasoensis, P. hyalostrata, P. iporangae and P. opulentissima. A key to aid in the identification of the thirteen species of Puccinia on the host Ipomoea is provided. Nomenclature, descriptions, illustrations and notes are presented for each species.
