Abstract

The genus Pittosporum Banks ex Gaertner (1788: 286) is represented by c. 200 species occurring in different tropical parts of the world (Mabberley 2008). In India, the genus is represented by 10 species (Nayar & Giri 1993, Singh & Diwakar 2009), of which five species are endemic to India (Singh & Diwakar 2009, Singh et al. 2015): P. anamallayense Nayar & Giri (1980: 4), P. dasycaulon Miquel (1852: 5), P. eriocarpum Royle (1834: 77), P. humile Hooker & Thomson (1872: 198) and P. neelgherrense Wight & Arnott (1834: 154).
