Abstract
Russula lilaceopruinosa (Russulaceae, Russulales) is described as a new species based on collections from the Wumeng Mountains, Southwest China. It is morphologically characterized by a distinctive lilac pruinose pileus, cream-colored lamellae, and subreticulate to reticulate basidiospores. Molecular phylogenetic analyses of a concatenated dataset (ITS, nrLSU, mtSSU, and RPB2) place the new species within the crown clade of Russula subg. Russula. Russula lilaceopruinosa forms a distinct monophyletic lineage (MLB = 100%; BPP = 1.00) in R. subsect. Auratinae, separate from the R. aurea lineage and the R. wielangtae lineage, supporting its recognition as an independent evolutionary lineage. A comprehensive description and comparisons with similar taxa are provided.
