Abstract
The genus Chionostomum is revised, with two species accepted: C. hainanense and C. rostratum. Chionostomum baolocense is proposed as a new synonym of C. rostratum. Chionostomum pinicola is provisionally excluded from Chionostomum due to its distinct morphological characteristics, and its generic placement remains uncertain. No collector, collection number, or identifiable holotype is recorded in the protologue of Neckera rostrata (≡ Chionostomum rostratum); we thus designate BM001223377 (BM), which is consistent with the original locality and description, as its lectotype. A key, illustrations and diagnostic features for the recognized species are provided. The distribution ranges of the accepted species are refined, with Chionostomum rostratum reported as a new record for Indonesia and Nepal. Previous records of Chionostomum hainanense and C. pinicola from Thailand, C. rostratum from Malaysia are excluded due to misidentifications.
