Abstract
Recent phylogenetic studies of Selaginellaceae identified numerous deeply divergent and morphologically supported lineages within the family (Weststrand & Korall 2016, Zhou et al. 2016, 2025, Zhou & Zhang 2023). This led Zhou & Zhang (2023) and Zhou et al. (2025) to propose a generic classification recognizing 20 segregate genera in the traditionally broadly defined genus Selaginella Palisot-Beauvois (1804: 478).
