Abstract

A new species, Leucas kembangsungsang, is herein described and illustrated from East Java, Indonesia. The species is morphologically distinct from its closest relatives, L. leucochepala and L. decemdentata, based on a combination of diagnostic characters, including stem anatomy, the presence of a peduncle and bracts, and differences in calyx morphology (shape, mouth configuration, and lobe size) and corolla structure. Detailed descriptions, phenological data, illustrations, and a conservation assessment are provided. This discovery increases the number of native Leucas species in Java from five to six.
