Abstract

Thelenella tropica, a pyrenocarpous lichen is described as new to science from India. It was collected from Suhelwa Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh. The new species is characterized by corticolous habitat, pertusarioid perithecia, oblong ellipsoid, muriform, I−, KI−, hyaline, 52–65 × 18–23 µm ascospores. An updated world key to the corticolous species of Thelenella is also provided.
