Abstract

The rediscovery of Schismatoglottis mindanaoana, a species described from Mindanao over a century ago, has enabled a critical morphological reassessment. Fresh collections reveal characters that include sprawling pleionanthic stems, ligulate petiolar sheath, and obscure leaf venation that align it with Borneoa rather than Schismatoglottis. Accordingly, S. mindanaoana is transferred to Borneoa, making it the first record of the genus for the Philippines. In addition, S. minuta, described from Samar, is herein placed in synonymy as no significant morphological differences were observed from B. mindanaoana. An extended description and updated geographical distribution, ecology, and provisional IUCN assessment are provided.
