Abstract
The genus Pseudolaelia is a small genus of orchids endemic to eastern Brazil, currently comprising approximately 12 accepted species. The overlap in flowering periods and the sharing of pollinators result in the formation of interspecific hybrids. This study describes a natural hybrid between Pseudolaelia citrina and Pseudolaelia dutrae in the state of Espírito Santo,Brazil, which is formally named Pseudolaelia × douglasii. Some morphological characters, such as the color of the petals and sepals, the size of the pseudobulbs, the number of internodes, the length of the inflorescence, and the number of flowers, emphasize the intermediate phenotype between the two parental species. This work features a thorough morphological analysis that supports and suggests the formation of the new hybrid from the parental species.
