Abstract

Aristolochia baiseensis, a new species of Aristolochiaceae from limestone areas of Guangxi, China, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to A. versicolor and A. haimingii in the shape of leaf blade, oblong anthers and 3-lobed gynostemium. However, it can be easily distinguished from the latter two by the surface texture, colour of calyx limb, and characteristics of throat and basal perianth tube. Color illustrations and ecological information of this new species, as well as morphological comparison with its similar species are provided. The conservation status of the new species is also assessed.
