Abstract
The genus Lepanthes is among the most diverse within the Orchidaceae, consisting of over 1,196 species found across the Neotropics, although its diversity in Peru is still inadequately documented. In this study, two new species of Lepanthes from northern Peru are described and illustrated. Lepanthes jeorgincarrilloi is similar to L. hystrix but differs by its larger sepals and petals, ovate-triangular lip blades, and a ligulate, pubescent, glandular appendix. Lepanthes pravata is similar to L. focalis but differs in the shape of the petal lobes and in having a deeply retuse lip, with an oblong appendix bearing a tuft of hairs and a three-veined body. In addition, two new records are reported for Peru: Lepanthes monoptera and Masdevallia don-quijote, thus expanding knowledge of orchid diversity in the country.
