A new species and a new nomenclature combination of the genus Ligusticopsis (Apioideae, Apiaceae) in China

Abstract

A new species Ligusticopsis ramosa is identified and described as an endemic species from Sichuan Province, China. The new species is described based on a set of morphological and carpological data. Its differences from the closely related species L. involucrata are shown in this article: branched stem evenly along its entire length; features of petioles of basal leaves; number of bracts and secretory ducts between dorsal ribs and absence of rib secretory ducts. The species Peucedanum rubricaule is transferred to the genus Ligusticopsis according to similarity of diagnostically important features in Apiaceae: perennial monocarpic herbs; basal leaves in rosette; petals white; mericarps dorsally compressed, dorsal ribs filiform, marginal ribs narrow winged, the inner layer of mesocarp from parenchyma cells. Its differences from the type species P. ruthenicum are shown. A morphological and carpological study of the species Peucedanum nanum has been carried out. It has confirmed recent inclusion of the species in the genus Ligusticopsis with the new nomenclature combination L. nana.
