Drepanolejeunea devendrae new record reproductive organ Thailand Bryophytes

Abstract

Drepanolejeunea devendrae was newly discovered in the evergreen and montane forests in central, northeastern, and northern Thailand. Description and illustrations are provided. The details of androecium, gynoecium and asexual reproductive organ are described for the first time. The key reproductive characters of the species include male bracteoles restricted to the basal portion of the androecial shoot, obovate perianths with five entire horns and usually scattered or aggregate ocelli, the absence of gynoecial innovations, and asexual reproduction via cladia. An overview and comparison of gynoecia in all Thai Drepanolejeunea species is included.
