Abstract
Chamaecrista is a pantropical genus comprising 362 species. There are 269 species recorded for Brazil, of which 225 are endemic to the country, primarily distributed within the Cerrado Domain. Several names published in recent years are invalid under the International Code of Nomenclature, however, these names reflect a real morphological variation and were applied consistently. The names “Chamaecrista curvifolia”, “C. latistipula” and “C. linearis” were invalidly combined due to the missing page number(s) in the basionym reference, contravening Article 41.5. of the ICN; C. detonsa, a combination of C. setosa var. detonsa published in 2022, is considered superfluous; C. tomentella and C. transversa are invalidly published due to the citation of two collections as types, contravening Article 40.2 of the ICN. Herewith we propose nomenclatural and taxonomic adjustments to validate all these names. Additionally, we propose a new status for “C. graminea” and a new combination for “C. malacophylla”. For “Chamaecrista tomentella” and “C. transversa” we also provide morphological descriptions, illustrations, and expand their geographical distribution.
