Abstract

A new species of Microlicia is described from the Parque Estadual das Sete Passagens, Bahia, Brazil. Microlicia roseopetala appears to be related to M. leucopetala, but differs by having smaller flowers with shorter hypanthia (1.8–2.6 mm long), shorter calyx lobes (2.0–2.7 mm long) that are oblong to triangular, shorter magenta petals (4.6–6.6 mm long), and isomorphic stamens. Photos of living specimens, a diagnostic illustration, a distribution map, and notes on the taxonomy and conservation of M. roseopetala are provided.
