Dianthus malyeri (Caryophyllaceae), a new species from Türkiye

Abstract

Dianthus malyeri (sect. Dentati) is described and illustrated as a new species from Bursa Province, in northwestern Anatolia, Türkiye. The new species morphologically resembles D. elegans, but distinctly differs in its longer, with more nodes stems, shorter leaves, shorter calyx, as well as shorter petals with 6–11-toothed at apex. A detailed description, photographs, a morphological comparision with D. elegans vars. elegans and cous, IUCN conservation status assessment, distribution map, notes on ecology of the new species are presented.
