Abstract

A new species of StellariaStellaria bengalensis—from Sangsera forest range (Kalimpong district, West Bengal, India) is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to S. media in petal morphology and habit but, differs by absence of bracts, broad ovate sepal, zygomorphic flowers, petals fused till the apex, four stamens, ellipsoid capsule, and different seed surface architecture and pollen.
