Abstract

A critical evaluation of the diagnostic characters used in delimitation of Swertia patnitopiansis Singh from S. cordata Wall. ex C.B.Clarke revealed that the former is conspecific to the latter. Therefore, S. patnitopiansis is recognized as a new synonym of S. cordata. Comparison of taxonomic characters, photographic illustrations and distribution map are provided to ease the identification of the taxon.
