Abstract

We propose a new species restricted to the Atlantic Forest from the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo, Callianthe capixabae. Morphological description, taxonomic comments, illustrations, distribution, habitat, and phenology are provided. C. capixabae is closely related to C. glaziovii and C. schenckii, but can be distinguished from them mainly by indument, inflorescence type, calyx nerves, corolla colour and fruit length.
