Abstract

The status of Actinodaphne lanceolata, an overlooked and misinterpreted name is clarified. It is accepted here as a distinct species with A. hookeri treated as its synonym. The differences of the species compared to A. angustifolia, with which the species has also been confused, are also elucidated. Lectotypes are designated for five names, A. angustifolia ( ≡ Litsea angustifolia), A. angustifolia var. latior, A. heterophylla, A. heterophylla var. elliptica and A. lanceolata. The name A. angustifolia  ( ≡ Litsea angustifolia) is also epitypified here.
