Abstract

A bluish agaricoid species, Mycena baishanzuensis sp. nov., collected from Baishanzu National Park, Zhejiang Province, China, is identified and described. It’s characterized by a blue pileus with a “cracked” surface pattern, a gelatinous pileipellis with blue pigments, ellipsoid to pip-shaped basidiospores, and clavate, cylindrical cheilocystidia. A description, photographs, and phylogenetic analysis results of the new species, together with morphological comparison with related species, are provided. Maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) analyses of a concatenated ITS and nrLSU sequence dataset recovered the new taxon as a monophyletic lineage (ML = 100, BPP = 1.00) and demonstrated its phylogenetic distinctness from other recognized Mycena species.
