A new endemic species from the Atlantic Forest with a distinct habit in Palicourea (Palicoureae, Rubiaceae)

Abstract

The present study reports the discovery of a new endemic species of Palicourea Aubl. (Palicoureeae, Rubiaceae) from the state of Rio de Janeiro. Palicourea goytacaz sp. nov. differs from the other Palicourea species by its litter-trapper architecture, large leaves, and purple-blue fruits with persistent calyces.
