Abstract
Gomphrena medinae (Amaranthaceae), a new species from the states of Guerrero and Michoacán (Mexico), is described and illustrated. G. medinae is similar to G. pringlei, but it can be distinguished by the oblanceolate-spathulate to lanceolate leaves arranged towards the base, long-pedunculated inflorescences, involucral leaves shorter than the inflorescence, bracts shorter than the bractlets, and crest of the bractlets less than 1 mm wide.
