Abstract
Copaifera is a genus of the resin-production clade (Leguminosae, Detarioideae) and is a component of Brazilian flora, presenting ecological, pharmacological and economic relevance. During a field expedition of the Araguaia Vivo 2030 Program, focused on areas which presented botanical collection gaps, we found an outstanding, new shrubby species of Copaifera that occur associated with “Murundu” fields in regions under influence of the Araguaia River basin. Here we present taxonomic description and notes, distribution map, field photographs, botanical illustrations, conservation status and a table comparing the new species with the morphologically similar species C. elliptica, C. malmei and C. luetzelburgii.
