Abstract

Youngia muliensis, a new species from Muli county, Sichuan province, China, is described and illustrated. This species is morphologically similar to Y. pilifera, sharing features such as rosulate basal leaves, a stem lacking cauline leaves, strigose leaf surfaces and inner phyllaries that are glabrous abaxially and appressed-hairy adaxially. However, it differs in the size of the lamina of basal leaves (1.5–7 × 1.5–2.5 cm vs. 2–5 × 0.6–1.5 cm), a deeply cordate and revolute base of lamina (vs. attenuate into a winged portion), purplish red (vs. green) petioles, and the inner phyllaries having a subapically plane midvein (vs. crested or corniculate).
