Abstract

Clematis armandi var. kiangnanensis (Ranunculaceae) has been previously reduced to the synonymy of C. armandi. Based on literature consultation, specimen survey and observations of living plants in the wild, we demonstrate that C. armandi var. kiangnanensis actually belongs to C. finetiana, a species widely distributed in China. We therefore place C. armandi var. kiangnanensis in synonymy with C. finetiana herein. The geographical distribution of C. finetiana is also further clarified.
