Abstract
A new species of Eremiomyces is described from Shandong Province based on morphological and molecular evidence. Eremiomyces deodarae is found in acidic soils on campus of Shandong Agricultural University in Tai’an City, Shandong Province, China, forming ectomycorrhizae with Cedrus deodara. Our phylogenetic analyses based on the internal transcribed spacers 1 and 2 with the 5.8S rDNA (ITS) recognized four species in the genus Eremiomyces, including one new species. The habitat and macro-/micromorphology of the new species are described. Molecular analyses of ITS support the new species as closely related to Eremiomyces innocentii. Morphologically, E. deodarae differs from the E. innocentii by small spores and small asci.
