Abstract

Pottingeria acuminata Prain (Celastraceae), collected from Son La Province, northern Vietnam near Laos is reported here as a new genus and species record for the flora of Vietnam. The species differs from all other Celastraceae very well by its leaves which are distichous, venation basally triplinerved, other nerves not distinct. Taxonomic notes, descriptions, photographs are provided, together with short notes on the distribution, ecology and phenology of Pottingeria acuminata.
