Abstract

The name Chloris montana is lectotypified here, based on the morphological study and illustration from Roxburgh’s Icon stored at CAL herbarium. Chloris telanganae has been relegated as a new heterotypic synonym of C. montana. The variability in morphological characters of some species viz. C. montana, C. bournei, C. wightiana and C. quinquesetica have been discussed in detail in the Table 1 and also under a separate section at the end in addition to the correct identification and distribution of C. bournei. Additionally, an updated key to the species occurring in India is provided for easy identification.
