Abstract

Eugenia pokkudanii, a new species of Myrtaceae from high ranges of the Western Ghats, Palakkad District, Kerala is described and illustrated here. The species shows similarities with Eugenia discifera and Eugenia indica but is distinct from them by the shape, size and indumentum of leaves, petioles, pedicels, calyces, petals and bracteoles. Detailed description, distribution and conservation notes are provided with photographs and illustration.
