Abstract
The recently published nom. nov. Molendoa antiqua R.H. Zander (2019: 335) is a superfluous name. If Anoectangium handelii Schiffn. (1913: 490) is a synonym then the correct name should be Molendoa handelii since that name has priority and the epithet is not already taken in Molendoa. The appropriate combination in Molendoa is therefore made here. The species is frequently encountered in seasonally wet rock crevices in the American southwest. In addition to California, Colorado, and Nevada (Zander & Eckel 2007), it is also known from Arizona (Mohave Co.: Brinda 1161, 1680, 1688, 1702, 1726, 1741b, 1956, 1971, 2008a) and Utah (Garfield Co.: Brinda 7659, 7714, 7733; Grand Co.: Weiss 20150; Iron Co.: Weiss 20145; Washington Co. Weiss 20148). All specimens at MO.
