Abstract

Carex insignis Boott (1858: 5) is the name applied to a species that belongs to Carex sect. Decorae (Kükenthal) Ohwi (1936: 338). It occurs in East, South and South-East Asia (Liang et al. 2010). Global Carex Group (2016) found section Decorae to be polyphyletic, being their representatives placed on the Core Carex clade, within the “small Core Carex” or early diverging within “large Core Carex” subclade. Unfortunately, C. insignis was not included in that phylogenetic study.
